The majority of our positions are for seafood processors and the work they do is vital but there is a wide range of career opportunities at Trident. We also need to fill positions for welders, mechanics, safety and environmental professionals, to name a few examples.

BEFORE YOU APPLY

Working in Alaska is a great adventure, but it is also very hard work. We work when there is fish. This could mean many long hours a day doing the same thing on your feet in a cold, wet environment. Expect to work 7 days a week, 16 hours a day but also know there may also be days with no work at all.

What are the work conditions like in Alaska?

Seafood processing is physically demanding, involves long hours, a cold, wet environment, and repetitive work. Please remember that there are no guaranteed work hours. When fish are available, you will be required to be ready and willing to work as directed.

What are the living conditions like?

Our shore plants offer dormitory style bunkhouses. Rooms are shared between 2-6 people.  On our vessels, employees share small staterooms with 2-6 people in each room. Bathroom facilities are shared at all locations.

Where can I find an in-person interview event?

The schedule of locations, dates, and times of our interview events are listed here. We will be focusing on interviewing applicants for work as a Seafood Processor in Alaska. You must submit an online employment application BEFORE showing up for an interview. Please be sure to check back on our website for potential added recruiting trips throughout the season.

How do I request a remote interview?

You will need to submit an application online prior to scheduling an interview. To request the interview, please email hrops@tridentseafoods.com. Include in your email your name, email address, and the last four digits of your SSN.

What is the pay scale for a seafood processor?

Seafood Processors in Alaska earn at least minimum wage, and any hours worked in excess of 8 per day or 40 per workweek shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half times the regular rate of pay. Payment on vessels can be case rate or hourly, and Seafood Processors in Naknek, Alaska may be paid a higher rate.

When does the season start and end?

Trident’s employment seasons can be as short as two months or last as long as six months.

A Season (Cod, Pollock, Crab): Hiring occurs October-December for work that will begin in December.

B Season (Herring, Salmon): Hiring occurs March-June for work beginning in May or June. We will continue to hire throughout the seasons, however, this is when our interviews occur.

 

What are the requirements to work for Trident Seafoods?

  • Have valid permission to work in the U.S.
  • Speak and understand English (for safety reasons)

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and background screen.
  • Complete post offer medical placement questionnaire.
  • Be able to abstain from alcohol and drugs for the duration of your employment agreement

How do I prepare for my interview?

  • Once your remote interview is scheduled, please prepare as you would if it was being held in-person
  • Have a valid ID

I am done with my interview what’s next?

  • A drug test will be given to you during quarantine
  • Following the drug test, a criminal background check will be conducted immediately or anytime until the hiring starts. Check your email for that update. Once your criminal background check is complete you will be notified with any next steps via email

I want to work in the same place as my family or friend, what do I do?

We cannot guarantee that you will be placed with your family or friend; however, if you would like to request this you need to let us know during your interview. If you are placed at the same location, we cannot guarantee that you will be in the same room.
