1973

FOUNDED ON THE ALASKA KING CRAB GROUNDS

Trident Seafoods began because of the vision and determination of Chuck Bundrant – a young man from Tennessee who ventured north to follow a dream and pull a living from the icy waters of the North Pacific.

Chuck was soon joined by Kaare Ness and Mike Jacobson. Together they pioneered the catching and processing of crab on board the same vessel, the F/V Billikin, and a legacy began.

1974

Chuck partnered with Edd Perry's San Juan Seafoods establishing our Bellingham plant as a value added processing facility for Trident Seafoods.

1977

The Mr. J. was our processing vessel in Akutan, Alaska prior to the plant being built.

1978

Built F/V Bountiful at Maxon Marine in Tell City, Indiana.

1979

Acquired M/V Tempest to add to our floating processing fleet in Bristol Bay.

1980's

Trident's executive team at the helm. Bart Eaton, Edd Perry, Chuck Bundrant, Steve Okerlund and Kaare Ness.

1981

We broke ground for the Akutan, Alaska plant.

1982

Acquired P/B Neptune to grow our floating processing fleet.

1983

Fire breaks out at the Akutan plant!

1983/84

After the fire, the Akutan plant was rebuilt bigger then ever to fulfill Chuck's vision for Trident's growth.

1986

Acquired our Sand Point, Alaska plant.

1987

Acquired Sea Alaska Products from ConAgra with salmon cannery at South Naknek, M/V Alaska Packer, and M/V Sea Alaska.

Acquired operations of JX Fisheries and SeaWest Industries, Inc.

1988

Built our first value added plant in Anacortes, Washington to introduce Wild Alaska Pollock to national restaurant chains. Today Anacortes also produces The Ultimate Fish Sticks and Wild Alaska Salmon Burgers, as well as many other delicious products.

1990

Acquired M/V Independence.

1992

Purchased our North Naknek and Ketchikan, Alaska shore plants from Farwest Fisheries.

1994

Purchased our St. Paul, Alaska shore plant.

1999

Acquired Tyson Seafood Group's Newport, Oregon facility, Pier 91 plant in Seattle, Washington, the C/P Enterprise fleet, Tacoma shipyard in Washington, and our Kodiak, Alaska shore plant.

Began offering SEA LEGS Surimi after acquiring SEA LEGS plant and brand from Nicherei Foods of North America.

2000's

Launched The Ultimate Fish Stick that has more Wild Alaska Pollock and less breading.

Introduced our Salmon Burger made from whole fillets of Wild Alaska salmon.

2001

Purchased Chignik Pride salmon plant in Chignik, Alaska.

Established a branch office in Tokyo, Japan. We continued to expand our footprint to deliver high-quality products and serve customers in Asia.

2004

Acquired Norquest Seafoods' Alaska operations in Chignik, Cordova, Ketchikan, Petersburg, M/V Pribilof and M/V Aleutian Falcon. The acquisition also provided expertise in smoked fish with operations in Everett, Washington.

2006

Purchased Louis Kemp Surimi Seafoods in Motley Minnesota.

2008

Acquired Bear & Wolf Cordova salmon cannery and freezer plant

2009

Began China joint venture and value-added processing in Weihai, China.

Expanded R&D innovation center and show kitchen at Pier 91, advancing our culinary capabilities and expertise. Acquired Wrangell salmon plant, expanding our Southeast Alaska operations.

2010

Acquired Kasilof Fish Company and their smoked salmon products.

2012

Acquired Alaska Protein Recovery and the Pure Alaska Omega brand, building upon the full utilization of our catch and entering into the retail supplement market.

2013

2015

Opened Carrollton, Georgia plant to better serve our value added customers who are located east of the Mississippi.

Investment in Kodiak allowed for expansion and building our new state-of-the-art facility.

2016

Acquired Pickenpack plant, Riepe, Germany to better serve our European value added market.

2018

Partnered in NewCold Distribution Center, a cutting edge cold storage facility located in Tacoma, Washington.

Acquired processing plant at False Pass to better serve the salmon fisheries.

2019

2021

Acquired C/P Starbound, adding modern state-of-the-art processing capacity that enables full utilization of every sustainably caught wild Alaska Pollock.

2021/2022

Launched Pure Catch Supplements and Alaska Naturals Pet brand refresh to further expand the full utilization of our catch.

2023
