Wheelhouse Job Positions

  Engineering Job Positions

Master
(Licensed)
Responsible for safe navigation and proper maintenance, discipline of the crew and safety of all persons aboard vessel. Supervision of the deck department in repair, maintenance, and cleaning of the vessel and its deck. Evaluate and train crew as needed. Requires USCG Masters License equal or greater than appropriate gross tonnage of vessel (may require GMDSS and STCW 95).
 
Chief Engineer
(Licensed)
Responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, repair, and efficiency of the ships main propulsion systems, electrical, water making, refrigeration, deck equipment and other engineering equipment depending on type of vessel. Oversees entire engineering crew. Requires USCG Chief engineers license equal or greater than appropriate horse power of vessel (maybe require STCW 95). Work location rotates between Alaska and Washington shipyards.
     
Master
(Non-Licensed)
Responsible for safe navigation and proper maintenance, discipline of the crew and safety of all persons aboard vessel. Supervision of the deck department in repair, maintenance, and cleaning of the vessel and its deck. Evaluate and train crew as needed.
 
Asst. Engineer
(Licensed)
Responsible to the chief engineer for the safe operation, maintenance, repair, and efficiency of the ships main propulsion systems, electrical, water making, refrigeration, deck equipment and other engineering equipment depending on type of vessel. Requires USCG assistant engineers license equal or greater than appropriate horse power. (maybe require STCW 95) Work location rotates between Alaska and Washington shipyards.
     
Mate
(Licensed)
Responsible to the Master for the navigation of the vessel. Supervision of the deck department in repair, maintenance, and cleaning of the vessel and its deck. Evaluate and train crew as needed.
 
DDE Engineer
(Licensed)
Responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, repair, and efficiency of the ships main propulsion systems, electrical, water making, refrigeration, deck equipment and other engineering equipment depending on type of vessel. Requires USCG Designate Duty Engineers license (DDE) equal or greater than appropriate horse power for vessel under 1600gt (maybe require STCW 95). Work location rotates between Alaska and Washington shipyards.
     
Mate
(Non-Licensed)
Responsible for safe navigation and proper maintenance, discipline of the crew and safety of all persons aboard vessel. Supervision of the deck department in repair, maintenance, and cleaning of the vessel and its deck. Evaluate and train crew as needed.
 
Engineer
(Non-Licensed)
Responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, repair, and efficiency of the ships main propulsion systems, electrical, water making, refrigeration, deck equipment and other engineering equipment depending on type of vessel. Work location rotates between Alaska and Washington shipyards.
     
AB Deckhand Responsible for performing maintaining ship exterior/interior; maintaining and operating deck machinery; mooring and anchoring the vessel, loading, unloading, and stowing supplies and equipment and standing watches. Requires Merchant Mariner Document (MMD) with AB endorsement (may require STCW 95).
 
Oiler/Wiper MMD Receives job assignments from Chief/Assistant Engineer and ensures all engine oil levels are checked, maintained and machinery is greased and lubed accordingly. Communicates with Chief/Assistant to make certain logs are properly maintained, assists routine maintenance on any and all engine room machinery. Must have USCG Merchant Mariner Document (MMD) (may require STCW 95).
     
OS Deckhand Responsible for performing maintaining ship exterior/interior; maintaining and operating deck machinery; mooring and anchoring the vessel, loading, unloading, and stowing supplies and equipment and standing watches. Requires Merchant Mariner Document (MMD) (may require STCW 95).
   
     
Deckhand Responsible for performing maintaining ship exterior/interior; maintaining and operating deck machinery; mooring and anchoring the vessel, loading, unloading, and stowing supplies and equipment and standing watches.
