Fishing Seasons - Salmon


This table represents the various species in which Trident Seafoods is a primary harvester/processor and when the specific fishing activity takes place. Although some species are harvested in a very short time period, most species are available year-round in a frozen form.

The five species of Pacific salmon are caught by either hook and line or net (seine or gillnet), as the adult salmon return from the open ocean to their native spawning grounds. Depending on the particular species and the timing of their return, salmon may be harvested from May to November. They are processed within hours to ensure the highest quality. Roughly half of the Alaska salmon catch is canned with the remainder being quick-frozen, capturing the fresh-caught flavor unique to Alaskan wild salmon. Common product forms include whole fish, steaks, fillets, marinated portions, breaded salmon nuggets, or in the can, the five species of salmon are available throughout the year in all their various forms.
